Stomp boxes.
Adding new devises to an already large rig is just part of the game.
Kim:"I feel that I don't have the right guitar sound on recordings yet. I have tried different microphones, mic placements and amp settings, plug-ins, but I am not entirely happy with the results. It's a long process and I have recorded many songs and done lots of mixes to see what works and what doesn't. I am always listening to mixes on my walkman phone, in the car, at work (tormenting my co-workers) trying to figure out how to make things better. I bought a Boss Metal Zone MT-2 stomp box to see what it could do. I've known about this pedal for many years, but I haven't tried it myself. The last time I used a distortion pedal was way back when I started playing guitar, from 89-91. I then had a Boss Metalizer pedal, but I sold it when I bought my first Marshall valvestate stack.
Anyways, today I hooked this pedal up to my amp and blasted away. It was awesome, it sounded right up front and tight. I did a lot of A/B comparison against my regular Marshall JMP-1 preamp and it is just as good. I like the EQ on the pedal cause I can shift the sound back and forth through the bandwidth making it sound like death metal on the bass side and more like traditional heavy on the lighter frequencies".
